What to plant after what: a crop rotation planner
Tell it what grew in a bed last year and it tells you what goes in next, using the classic four-bed rotation. Or plan all four beds for the next four years.
Plant this year
Plan four beds for four years
Set what's in each bed this year. The table moves every group on one bed a year, so nothing comes back to the same ground for three years.
Crops outside the rotation
Courgettes, squash, cucumbers and sweetcorn have few soil problems and go wherever there's room, usually with the peas and beans or in the potato bed. Lettuce, spinach and other quick salads fill gaps in any bed. Perennials such as asparagus, rhubarb and fruit stay in a permanent bed of their own. The reasons behind the order are in our crop rotation guide.
